This is a lovely image. The colours are obviously very photogenic, that goes without saying, but the true strength of the photo is in the sharp textures. They almost look like organic cotton buds when zoomed in this close.

To Truly Look is to See - To Truly Hear is to Listen
My hubby gave me one for Mother's Day last year so I planted it and then I went out and bought one more. I had about 5 or 6 plants this year, so next year I should have a nice collection of them.

I was happy with the detail on this one too. The depth of field is SO small when all the rings are on - it's very difficult to catch the exact spot without a tripod.
The damn wind kept shaking the flowers and I was having a hard time! LOL!

So there is little depth of field with the rings. I imagine this does reduce the control you can have over the clarity of background objects. Does it feel like a major restriction? I was tempted to buy those rings as they did appear to be cheap and effective.
I imagine with a genuine close-up lens there's more control over the DOF.

I do feel pretty restricted when I use the macro. You see the macro happens with all 4 rings. I think that with only 2 or 3 rings the DOF is not quite so restricted.
I don't know how this compares with a real Macro lens as I've never used one
someday I might be able to get one, but for now the rings will have to do.
I think they are still worth the investment though - like you said - they are not expensive and they do give you another option.

I reckon I should make the ring purchase when money becomes more available. No Handie, not Lord of the Rings, nor am I getting engaged, but the focal rings.
Sorry, I just felt like landing on you a lame gag. Forgive me.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
