So, I've been trying really hard to up my activity level these days. I try to work out or get some sort of exercise in every day. I've been working at it for a while now and I'm starting to wonder WHEN DOES IT START TO FEEL GOOD??!!!!!!
I mean seriously. I'm always sore. If it's not my shoulder it's some strange area between my hamstring and my glutes, and if it's not that then my shins or my calves...... for instance: I go for walks. Usually about 40 minutes long and I try to keep a good pace going to keep my heart rate up. The last two weeks or so, my left calf keeps cramping up! After about 15 minutes I have to go uphill for a bit of a distance and that's when it starts. Then it just keeps going. It becomes rock hard and cramps so bad that it starts to hurt up the back of my whole leg. I have to stop every 3 steps and shake my leg. I'm sure I look like an idiot - walk 3 steps, shake it out. Limp three steps, shake it out some more..... good grief! One of these days some kid is going to jump out of a shrub and start doing the hokey pokey with me!!!
put your left leg in, put your left leg out, do the hokey pokey and you shake it all about..."
I mean seriously!! Why does this happen? I manage to get through it but it damn well hurts! I even went out and bought new shoes last summer thinking it might help and guess what?? Not so much.......... Now I just look like a hokey pokeying fool in nice shoes.....
Can anyone explain this to me, or tell me how to make this quit happening? Stretching doesn't seem to help. EAting bananas doesn't help - I've been eating more bananas than a monkey in heat - anyways, who knows? it's probably an old wives tale...
Turning....... older........... definitely makes life harder. Good grief boys and girls - get in shape while you are young and stay that way!! It will be a lot easier on you - I guaran-damn-tee it!! Don't wait until you are over the hill! Don't wait until you are destined to a life of doing the hokey pokey on the walking paths to the amusement of drivers by and home owners sitting there having a nice cold one - do it before it's too late!!!
So, do you remember that photo I posted recently of the soccer field with the bleachers surrounded by water? I went to that location today - you can't even see that the bleachers are there at all - totally covered. Along with the fence and everything else. All you can see is one of the goal posts sticking up about a foot out of the water. That's it. The fish are probably having a hell of a great time playing soccer. I wonder if the older fish are having a hard time with that. Maybe they are just sitting on the bleachers thinking about their misspent youths and living vicariously through their children.
Speaking of children and sports - my oldest has decided to play rugby this year.
W O W............
I don't like it. The first game they played 2 kids had to go to the emergency room. Then at the last game they had to call an ambulance to take a kid off the field. This sport is crazy. There doesn't seem to be any rules or organization!!! Who in the hell ever said "hey - let's put on no protection other than a mouth guard and go jump in a big pile and beat each other up!!!"? I mean...... really............ was it a bunch of kids who hated their moms and did it just to torture us? Kind of like a "heh, heh - hey let's go out and risk our necks just so our mom's can have a heart attack!!"
I hope it's a short season.
Well, for today's feature I decided to scour the archives of DA to find some sport related pics - enjoy!!
