well, the time has come. We are about to be bombarded with snow. We are expecting up to 20cm of the cursed white stuff over night. Our last day of visible grass has come and gone. We are now moving into the Freezing Zone.
The end of fall is always a bit of a disappointment for me. I do think that winter is beautiful, but the getting out of bed 15 minutes earlier every day to scrape the damn snow off the windshield, the wearing several layers of cold weather gear is annoying, the fogging up of my glasses when I come inside from the cold is down right stupid. (especially when you really have to pee and are trying to run up the stairs and trip because you can't see them - it's just not pretty.....). Let's not forget getting stuck in your car and having to rely on the good will of strangers who are willing to push you out, or the bitter, cold winds that will freeze your skin in under 30 seconds!
However, there are the frosty mornings when the sky is so blue and the trees are covered in white dressing, the foggy mornings when you wake up and the world is silent and so beautiful. The times when you have freshly fallen snow that glitters in the sunlight making the world seem like it's covered in diamonds.
So, I have decided to embrace the cold this year and I bought a pair of snowshoes! yay! I had a pair a few years ago and boy, is it a good work out! They broke though, so I've been without but now I'm ready to go again! I'm looking forward to heading out with my camera again to places where the snowshoeless have never gone before!! Now if I could only figure out what to do about my foggy glasses. As I'm slogging through the snow banks and breathing what feels like my last breaths, it's a real PITA when your glasses fog up and you actually fall down a ditch while a car drives by and the people witness it. (true story..... don't ask)
So, tonight my friend and I went for pedicures. It was a gift for my birthday and we went together. It was nice. I don't do that kind of thing often for myself, but it sure was a nice little treat! My toes smell great now, and they are very shiny. Very sparkly! I have to say though - I wanted to ask one of the girls if Fran Drescher was her mom - she had that high pitched, almost child like voice and her hair was even comparable. It was an experience! LOL! She was adorable though!
The art classes I was taking have ended

I was really enjoying them. I'm waiting for the winter schedule to come out - as I would like to take another class. I'm thinking maybe the Drawing II class. There is another one I'm interested in, but it's on the same night as another thing I do so I don't know if I should take it or not. Decisions, decisions...
Yesterday we went to the city to attend a workshop on colour and design and how it relates to picture framing. It was very interesting - but too short! The speaker was a freaking colour and design fountain of information - but we only had 2 hours and there was a LOT of info, so my head is kind of reeling and I don't know if I absorbed much! It was very interesting though, and I would like to learn more about the influences in design over the years. The trip home was not a lot of fun though - actually, to be blunt - it sucked! It rained all day and the roads were slippery and too shiny to see anything in the dark and I really just don't like driving in the rain/snow. Not to mention that someone was driving my car who usually doesn't. And eating. It's like ok.... can I hold your drink? no. A few minutes later........ NOW can I hold your drink? no. A few minutes later.......... Can I hold your drink NOW?? I'm not freaking asking -
give me your f'ing drink!!!! Sheesh - talk about give me a freaking heart attack! Do you really want me to stroke out while we are an hour away from a hospital in a rain storm???!!!
You know..... hubby is watching "Parking Wars". Wow. Just... wow. There are some crazy people in this world. And the scary thing is that they are running around loose and free.... and even driving cars. yikes!
Well, on that thought - welcome to my new watchers, and enjoy the features!!

Luckily the snow missed us - but boy did we get wind! Outlying areas really got blasted with the snow - nasty!
