So, the really big hockey game was last night - yep - the Stanley Cup. For those who don't follow hockey - that's the year end National Hockey League claim to fame and glory! It was down to the last game, and Vancouver and Boston were playing. Boston won. Too bad - I would have liked to see Vancouver win it for the first time ever - but Boston dominated and took the prize.
What happened afterwards was nothing short of disgraceful and embarrassing. To sit and see my fellow country men and women behave in such a terrible manner shocked, maddened and embarrassed me. Rioting, looting, vandalism. The Riot Police were out and forced to use tear gas to control the crowds. One man reportedly was pushed off a bridge and is in critical condition.
And what for? A game? Really? People! For shame!! Why destroy your own home. Your streets, your business owners, each other? Why? Why? Why?

It makes no sense to me. This is not about the game. This is about stupidity. People just LOOKING for an excuse to act like total morons and think they are cool for a day because they turned over cars, and set police cars on fire and punched a cop in the face. Again... for what?? Not all British Columbians, or Canadians act in the manner you may be witnessing on your news. 99.99% of Canadians are truly embarrassed by the actions of so very few. Most of us realize it was just a game; a really, really, big important game, but nonetheless a game! Please accept our apologies on behalf of all the idiots (we know you have them too). There are rotten apples in every barrel.....
So, on to better things - Special Days!!
Today was my 21st Wedding Anniversary! Yup! Twenty one years.... I feel so old saying that!!! Time sure does fly though. Last night I was lying in my bed and my thoughts wandered back to what I was doing at that same moment 21 years ago, and I thought that I was probably lying in my bed, a bundle of nervous energy thinking about getting married the next day.
So, this morning my dog woke me up at 6 a.m. and I got up to let her out. I looked out the window and saw..... FOG!! So I paced around the house trying to decide if I should grab my camera and head out or not - I decided not. I went back to bed. And lied there.... thinking about how if I DID go out... where would I go? And then I had an idea and I just had to get up and go!! So I spent a couple of hours shooting in a few different places and returned home. Then I spent a few hours on house work because my sister is coming to visit this weekend. We went out for lunch at noon, and then hubby surprised me with an airplane ride around the city. The local flying club is offering air tours of the flood zones, so we did that and it was awesome! I took a few pics of that too, although it was a hazy day so they are not fantastic. THEN he took me to a local sign and decal place and I saw his boat there. He lifted off the tarp and right there, across the back of it, was the name he finally chose for it.
The Sandra Lee. After me.... I know it must sound like a kind of silly thing, but you see, he LOVES that boat and it was so sweet of him to name it for me. It brought tears to my eyes.

He's not always the romantic sort - but now and again he wows me

However he did have to point out to me that unlike his tattoo..... the decal "could" be removed!

LOL!
So all in all - it was a very good day. The sun was out, I spent the day doing something new and fun with someone I love. Hell - I even got to take some pictures! I can't ask for more than that!
So, to end out my day, here are some lovely features for you to enjoy!!

::Special Works for Me!::
Congrats to you both on 21 loving years,may there be many,many more
I haven`t seen any of that sports/riot coverage but can`t stand idiots who get riled up over shit like that,seen it so much with Footy Hooligans in this Country,pathetic
It IS pathetic. Destruction and mayhem just for the sake of it is sickening. I can only imagine how the business owners who's life's work is destroyed must feel. I would be devastated!
I hope they are all caught and justice is done!!
Thanks hun!
