So, I'm sitting here listening to the 80's station on Sirius Radio and wow - talk about bringing back memories. I know - I am at risk here of illustrating my "oldness" to the young folks - but what the hell! They knew how to make music back then!
When you heard a song - you knew exactly who sang it - they didn't have to all sing their names into the beginnings of their songs because they sound just like every other band or singer out there.
You know, yesterday I went to Walmart to buy someone a movie (I hardly EVER go to WM - I hate the place, but sometimes you've just gotta put your personal feelings aside and bite the bullet for the greater good!)
You see, I was talking to a friend last week about the movie The Shawshank Redemption. AWESOME movie! Anyways, he told me that it's one of his fav's but he doesn't actually own it - so I figured "hey! Christmas present idea!!" So I find myself in Walmart and I can't find it so I ask a young lady who is walking by if they have it. She stands there beside me, looking at the DVD's and finally says to me "is that a movie?". So, I said "yes, it is" and she says "I'll be right back."
A few minutes later she comes back and says "OOOOH - That's a
REALLY OLD movie!! You'll find it in a bin over there....."
I looked at her and said "Hey!! Easy on the Really Old!!!"
Seriously? that's not REALLY OLD! Gone with the Wind is Really old!! Give me a break, will ya?!! I mean - if that movie is
REALLY OLD then that means that
I'M REALLY OLD and I that's just not right!!
So then a young guy came over to help me and he knew exactly where it was - because, you see, he was a big fan of it as well. He made me feel MUCH better about the situation! I almost gave him a hug, but then I didn't want him to think I was some crazy
little bit old woman..................
To anyone who reads this that hasn't seen this movie: GO AND GET IT RIGHT NOW!! Write the name down, and run to the movie place and rent it! You HAVE to see it!!
So, anyways, I'm sitting here listening to the music soundtrack of my high school days and remembering old times. Do you ever just hear a song and it takes you somewhere? I love that!
So we've got some good snow now. Today I took my dog for a walk and realized that they haven't gotten around to plowing the walking paths yet. What a walk! I was panting harder than my dog. Actually she was pretty much dragging me along most of the way. Every now and then she'd turn and look at me as if to say "will you
move your ass, little bit old woman??" Several times I had to tell her to wait up, once I twisted my ankle on a buried snow clump, and I seriously have to get some stylish walking gear. You don't wanna know what I was wearing. But then again, does it really matter how bad you look when you have a scarf covering your face?
I didn't think so.
Although, I think that my dog was slightly embarrassed by my appearance. That could explain her trying to walk way in front of me. Trying to distance herself and all.......
Well, that's enough yammering for now - on with the features! I hope that you all find yourself healthy and not in the least bit
REALLY OLD!!
