Swim Suit Shopping and the Stomach Flu

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 7, 2010, 7:14 PM
So, seeing as I've begun to go back to aquasize classes I decided that I need a new swim suit.  All of mine are getting a bit worn and not exactly suitable for a public pool, so off I went last Monday to find a new one.

Wow.  What a mistake..........

First Strike:  It's December.  What could I have possibly misunderstood about that?  It's December.  We are buried under 3 feet of snow and I actually thought that it might be possible that some of the stores just *might* have some sort of selection.  I mean, really..... people do go on hot holidays by the droves and yes, we do go swimming at the local pools.

Strike Two:  Have I looked at my body lately?  I mean, really, what in the world happened to me while I was sleeping??  Oh yeah........ I turned 40.

Strike Three:  What the hell is it with change room lighting??  I mean, seriously?  Do they not realize that if they were to "turn down the fluorescent sun" that they just *might* sell more clothing?  How freaking harsh do they have to make these damn things anyways?  Do they have contests to see who can invent the worst and harshest lighting conditions possible?  They must, because it can't possibly be that bad by accident.  They should hand you a pair of sunglasses at the freakin' door.

Strike Four: Are they basing clothing sizes these days on Little People?  I mean, c'mon people - can there not be a standard for clothing sizes?  Do you need to take a fortune teller to each clothes fitting so they can tell you which size to actually try on?  Hmmmm - in that store you need a size 14, but in this store you need an 18!  Yeah....... that makes shopping really easy.

So, all in all - I came home empty handed and just a little bit depressed :(  I guess the poor suckers at the pool will have to just turn their heads away when they see me coming otherwise they'll get more than they bargained for.

So, on to the Stomach Flu........

I have 2 children. One of the them is a teenager.  I'd like to ask any and all my watchers - what age, exactly, can one expect their almost grown up child to recognize the signs of impending expulsion of the stomach contents, and foresee getting to a damn bathroom or bucket in time??!!!!

COME OOOOOOON!!  I mean, I felt bad for the poor kid and all, but at the moment it was hard to tell through the homicidal thoughts I was having while on my hands and knees on the carpet covered in puke, with the shop vac - that's right - I said SHOP VAC- trying to vacuum up the chunks while trying not to toss my own cookies on to the mess.  Talk about disgusting!  He ate Chinese Food for supper!  blech!  I was up until about 4 a.m. washing carpets (Thank God above for the Little Green Machine) and bedding.  Man!  was he sick!  So finally at about 4 I figured I'd done all I could do, and I headed to bed.  I showered and got into bed and just as I finally dozed off, hubby got out of bed and started turning lights on.  I looked at the clock and it was only 5 a.m.!!!  I asked him "what are you doing!!??"  He said "I'm going to work..."  to which I replied "GET BACK IN BED YOU DUMB ASS!!  IT'S NOT TIME FOR WORK YET - YOU'RE SLEEPWALKING!!!"  So it took a few minutes for this to sink in before he finally came back to bed and guess what ....... I'm WIDE AWAKE again!  For crying out loud - so then I lied there for another 1/2 hour before falling asleep for 2 hours and having to get up and get my other son ready for school.  What a night!  By that night I was exhausted!   But hey, at least I still managed to go to aquasize that night.  Not too shabby...... unlike my swim suit.  Now, I haven't gotten the flu yet, but if I DID, maybe I could go back and buy that blue swim suit I had my eye on ;)

Thank you so much for the love, comments and faves my friends!  I truly appreciate them all!  oh - and hey!  I sold my first print (not here on DA) so I'm pretty excited about that!  Someone is getting one of my photos for Christmas and that's a nice feeling.  I hope they like it!
