Whales, Color IQ tests and Vista Help!!

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 19, 2011, 6:46 PM
So - here's a neat little thing for you to try: [link]

I scored 4 my first time.  Surprisingly - each time I did it after that, I scored worse and worse - but my eyes were exhausted!  It's hard - but very interesting to find out which colour hues my eyes had trouble discerning.

I was at that site because a while ago I acquired a screen calibrator - it's called an i1.  It's a great little gadget.  This week I got a surprise in the mail from them.  It's called a "color checker" card and it's a black card with all different colour chips on it.  I think it's supposed to help you with setting your camera colour or something - but I really don't understand how to use it.  They also sent me a nifty little carrying case.  I was surprised to just get a freebie like that.  Pretty cool company - check them out!

We have this friend.  Well,  "friend" is a pretty loose term - but he's this guy we know.  Our children played hockey together this winter.  We are planning a wind up party for the summer, and we sent out a letter to the team explaining that we'd like to all go out to the lake in June and have a BBQ, take the kids tubing, etc.

So we get a reply from him that says "I can hardly wait to see your wife emerge from the lake.  We can all take turns throwing things in her blowhole."

WHAT???!!  What the hell did I do??  Well, I couldn't let him best me like that so of course, I replied.

I mentioned a few things about what I thought of him which I shall not utter here  as it could shock some of you who are under the misunderstanding that I am a lady.  Then I went on to say how much I'd be looking forward to seeing him come out of the cold water because, seriously, there's not a lot of room for shrinkage, and how if things were to shrink any smaller he'd end up with an innie, and I finished off the letter with this statement:

"If we are going to talk about whales, we should probably be talking about you........ Moldy Dick"

Surprisingly, I never heard back from him.  I'm sure there will be hugs and kisses all around next time I see him.  What a guy.  He's lucky I wasn't in my "sensitive" stage of the month or I may have even had to visit him.  With a baseball bat.

Does anyone here use Window Vista?  I upgraded with my new computer and it's pretty good - but I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to delete the pictures from my camera card using it.  With XP I'd just "move"them from the card to the computer folders, or I could select them and delete them but with Vista there is no "move" or "delete" option.  It's very annoying and there has GOT to be a way to do it.

So I went for Physio on my shoulder this week.  The guy (who is amazing) found the sore spot on my shoulder and the muscle was knotted and knobby so he rubbed the heck out of it.  It felt great later - until about 7 hours later when the muscles in my upper shoulder and neck started spazzing out and I got this pinched nerve feeling in my neck.  For 2 days I was hopped up on muscle relaxers and sitting around here with alternate ice/heat packs on my shoulder/neck/head.  Not a lot of fun.  It's still a bit sore and crampy - but much better than it was.  Shoulder feels not too bad though!  ;)

Ahhhh - my friends, my friends.... thanks for suffering through my endless drivel.

Hey - you should check this out - my very good Alabamian friend :icondsnider: had an epiphany and is working on a great project!  [link] it out - it's a great idea!  check out his gallery too - he's a fantastic photographer!

Check out the features my friends, and spread some DA  around!

Ohhhh Mama - I wouldn't do that to YOU! Now him.... he had it coming!!! We've been down this road before and it's almost become like a challenge to see who can get the best shot!

Yep - I think I got him pretty good - TNT compared to a pop gun... I like that!!

Thank you!

I would feature your work any day of the week, hun. Twice on Sundays. You deserve every kind word you've earned about your work. I know I'm not much with words, but your work moves me.

And that guy - LOL! We shoot insults back and forth on a regular basis - so it's not totally unexpected - but I thought that was pretty down low and dirty (even for him) but it's ok - I think I got him back pretty good. I'm going to be seeing him tomorrow for a few hours, and I intend to call him "Moldy" all day long. He'll be sorry. I'm even now generating a whole new slew of insults to hand out to him.....

Well if I was there I have a real wide foot and could easily get both of them in one kick and would offer my services. It really means a lot to me that you can see something in my work that moves you. I hope I can continue to do so. :)

I cannot believe the nerve of that guy! I bet you got him back good with your clever wit! You're always great with the comebacks :D

That color thing was fun - after I looked at the calibration part, I figured out what angle I need to look at my laptop in order to see what I am supposed to - lol - I took it again and got a perfect score, but yeah - my eyes were hurting too!

I have Vista, and I import the photos while the card is still in the camera, and when the import prompt comes up, it gives me the option to 'Erase after importing' . They all go into Windows photo gallery.

Well, let's just say that this is not the first time, nor will it be the last. It's not totally unexpected from him - he just likes to see me get all riled up and then tell him off!! I expect to be seeing him tomorrow and I plan to call him Moldy allll day long!!

Yeah - I can see it being difficult on a lap top - I don't really care for laptops for that reason - I can never figure out how to position it properly!!

I prefer to just remove the card and do it that way - I think I just got into the habit of it because when I first got the camera I installed the stupid program now knowing any better and then I hated it loading up so much that I just got into the habit of using the card. I didn't install the program this time around though ;) I can put the card back in the camera and then delete them - but it's just an extra PITA step!
